N RamdasIyer, 57, has taken over as the Director of the National Science Centre, Delhi, with charge of all science centres of the National Council of Science Museums in the North of India, with effect from 16 August 2022. Iyer, who hails from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, has had a long and varied experience of 33 years in the field of creating a public understanding of science, with the National Council of Science Museum, which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Iyer has a rich and vast experience in conceptualising and creating galleries, exhibitions, science museums and other outreach activities that take science to the people. He has worked in the Eastern, Western and Northern zones of the National Council of Science Museums in various capacities. He has also worked extensively on International collaborations.
He takes over during a challenging time, and requests all citizens of Delhi to keep visiting and benefiting from the programmes and exhibitions at National Science Delhi and Regional Science City Lucknow, Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre, Kurukshetra and Palampur Science Centre, Palampur. He says, “As far as science goes, my doors are always open to anyone who might want to talk to me at any time. Do visit our science centres in huge numbers and help us make the National Science Centre a happening place”.
