Skill is the ability to do well especially because of training, experience or practice. Skill is a learned behaviour and not an innate or natural ability. Memory, for example, is an innate ability, whereas the ability to recall information is a skill. Similarly, logic and reasoning are natural abilities, while problem-solving is a skill. One becomes more and more proficient in skills with practice/repetition; therefore, repetition is said to be the mother of a skill.

Skills are normally of two types — hard skills and soft skills. Hard skills are job-specific and focus on what you can do. For example, mobile repairing, making beautiful jewellery, composing music or carpentry, etc., are all examples of hard skills. Soft skills relate to how you work with people, such as public speaking, leadership, creative thinking, decision making, etc., and help you get along and work harmoniously with others.
