Prof. Klaus von Klitzing

Prof. Klaus von Klitzing is a well-known physicist. For his discovery of the Quantum Hall Effect (QHE) he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1985. The discovery of QHE not only opened up new frontiers in quantum mechanics but it also influenced metrology by helping in the standardisation of mass via defining Planck Constant through Kibble Balance. The discovery of QHE triggered the introduction of a new international system of units based on fundamental constants of nature in 2019. Prof. Klaus von Klitzing’s research contributions influence a wide range of areas in physics from quarks and black holes to quantum materials. Recently, Meher Wan got an opportunity to interview Prof. von Klitzing...read more
